Luxembourg Air Rescue, the biggest non-profit association in Luxembourg with 185,000 members, celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2013. Under its chairman René Closter (pictured), it has transformed itself into a genuine public utility service, conducting some 3,000 air rescue operations per year, making it one of the world leaders in its field. Since the start of the year, the organisation has also inaugurated an organ transportation service for 19 of the 21 transplant centres in France in collaboration with a local partner. The association is currently waiting for the construction of its new premises at Findel, one of its biggest onqoing projects.
